Years of careful though and planning went into this Hollywood HIlls Mediterranean Villa that was a true LABOR OF LOVE for the owners. The project contains a mix of original antiques with, artful reproductions by top furniture houses, and custom pieces crafted by some of LA's finest artisans.

The front door opens into a double height entry hall. The frontally  positioned chest with inlaid veneer patterns by Ebanista sets the tone for quality and detail that is carried throught the residence. The tall walls are adorned with carefully curated antique tapestries and classical art. The entry hall in connected to the kitchen through a corridor with a breathtaking groin valted ceiling on the left, and the living room on the right. The living room beautifully combines elegant furniture pieces from various periods with contemporary art.

The dining room takes on Biedermeyer and classical influence. The antique server serves as a central feature in burled walnut with a corinthian column at each corner. Italian silk fabric from Corragio accents the cherry dining table and  chairs beautifully. A wide opening, adorned with classical crown moundings that reflect the scale of a European villa, frames a walk-through butler pantry that leads to the extremely well appointed kitchen with a central island that functions both as a breakfast bar and a work area. The coved and beamed kitchen ceiling is reminiscnet of a villa in the Italian countryside. 

 

Also accessible through the butler pantry, and open to the kitchen, the family room has  wood beamed ceilngs forming a square coffered pattern. The walls are finished in raw umber tones and take on the character of plastered walls in an historic villa. The south facing picture window and adjacent terrace face Hollywood below, and have 180 degree views spanning from downtown Los Angeles in the east, to Century City in the west.  A generous staircase off the terrace decends gracefully to the lawn with adjacent grotto below, and a basilica shaped swimming pool, complete with a triumvirate of fountain heads streaming water into the pool.
